Easily recognized by the pincers on the first set of appendages, the long tail with a stinger at the end and the flattened appearance of the body. There are four pairs of walking legs. There are two eyes on the top of the head region and usualy 2-5 along the side of the head. The bodies are covered with a waxy cuticle that fluoresces under ultraviolet light.

All scoprions are born live (viviparous) and embryos are nourished in the female\'s body. Development (gestation) is estimated to take eight months. The young climb to the mother\'s back after borth and soon molt. After the first molt, they disperse to lead independent lives. Typical lifespan is 3-8 years.

Stings are painful and produce local swelling and itching that my persist for several days

Reaction to the bite may vary based on the sensitivity of the individual.

Hunt primarily at night.
